Step into the role

As Embedded Software Engineer you have a central role to be involved in all development projects both internal and customer projects. Your task is to have the customer view on the products during the development to make sure that MilDef can deliver products with highest quality and above the customers expectation.

Key responsibilities

• Develop embedded software for MilDef products, ensuring alignment with system and customer requirements.

• Design and maintain test, calibration, and verification tools for our hardware platforms.

• Collaborate with electronics engineers in reviewing and refining hardware designs.

• Document all development activities according to MilDef’s quality system.

• Report progress clearly within project teams and drive software releases to completion.

• Support troubleshooting and root cause analysis within both engineering and production.

• Participate in verification and validation of components, subsystems, and complete products.

What you bring

• Minimum 3 years of experience in Embedded Linux software development.

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical/Computer Engineering, or a related technical field.

• Strong C/C++ programming skills.

• Experience with real-time systems and microcontrollers (e.g., STM32).

• Solid understanding of hardware interfaces (UART, SPI, I²C, GPIO, etc.).

• Fluency in Swedish and English, both spoken and written.

Bonus skills

• Familiarity with Yocto or similar embedded Linux build systems.

• Experience with electronics design and schematics.

• Understanding of video systems at a low level — E.g. DVI/HDMI protocols, EDID, frame timing, scalers.

• A passion for building reliable, high-performance systems that perform in challenging environments.

• Hands-on experience with FPGA design (Verilog, VHDL, Vivado, or similar).

• Experience with test automation or continuous integration systems.

• Experience using or interest in Rust for embedded development.
