Manager Requirements and Test
Step into the role
In this role, you will lead the Requirements Engineering and Test & Verification function, providing strategic assurance across programs and customer commitments. You will ensure that methods, tools, and processes enable compliant, efficient, and high-quality verification with full end-to-end traceability. By developing team competence and fostering strong cross-functional collaboration, you will enable the organization to meet business objectives as well as regulatory and customer requirements.
Key responsibilities
The role includes full staff responsibility and accountability for a safe and compliant work environment, including the laboratory.
The role also includes responsibility for recruitment and resource allocation, ensuring that we have the right competencies in place for our projects.
Define department objectives, roadmaps, and budgets for a 1–2 year horizon, aligning verification strategy and lab capabilities with business goals.
Direct Test & Verification Laboratory operations, investment priorities, scheduling, and calibration to maximize availability, safety, and throughput.
Be responsible for the hardware validation lab and test infrastructure, including definition of HW/SW needs, procurement, scheduling, calibration, safety, and availability to support efficient test execution.
Develop, own, and continuously improve requirements management and verification policies, methods, templates, tools, and configuration control processes.
Govern traceability from requirements to test cases, procedures, and acceptance evidence, ensuring complete coverage, auditability, and compliance.
Lead and coach specialists to build capacity, capabilities, and succession across requirements engineering and verification disciplines.
Coordinate cross-functional improvement initiatives with PMO, Systems Engineering, Hardware, Software, and Product Management to accelerate delivery and quality.
Fulfill other leadership responsibilities as needed to advance team performance and MilDef’s business concept.
What you bring
Bachelor’s Degree in Systems Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Mechatronics, or related field, or equivalent practical experience.
Minimum five years’ experience leading test and verification functions in regulated or defense environments, including hands-on experience from working in lab environments.
Completed and verifiable leadership development program or equivalent formal training.
Proven track record in defining and governing requirements and verification processes, tool chains, and configuration control.
Experience in strategic planning, budgeting, and resource management for specialist engineering functions.
Applied knowledge of ISO 15288, ISO 9001, and military standards (e.g., MIL-STD, DEF STAN), including audit preparation.
Proficiency in Swedish and English, spoken and written.
Bonus skills and experience
Master’s Degree in Systems Engineering or related discipline.
Certifications such as International Council on Systems Engineering (INCOSE) ASEP/CSEP and International Software Testing Qualifications Board (ISTQB).
Training in verification and validation (V&V), laboratory safety, or requirements engineering.
Background in managing verification laboratories or environmental qualification programs.
Hands-on experience with requirements and test management tools (e.g., IBM DOORS, Polarion, Jama, TestRail).
Experience with Ministry of Defence (MoD) or North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) frameworks.
Experience leading transformation or scaling of specialist engineering organizations.
